Empowering People Through Self-Sufficiency: The Story of LIFE in the Garden
At LIFE in the Garden, we’re on a mission to teach people how to grow their own food. Our video-based educational program offers stories and instruction in growing food with high yields while experiencing a global adventure that crosses borders and brings the world to the viewer.
Through captivating videos, we transport children and individuals to places they might never get to visit, expanding their horizons beyond the familiar. Through the lens of video, we bring the world to our viewer, igniting dreams of a future beyond their immediate surroundings. Our goal is to inspire a deep connection to the earth and spark dreams of a future that goes beyond the boundaries of their everyday lives.
Our focus extends to developing countries where food insecurity is skyrocketing, especially affecting the most vulnerable – children. LIFE in the Garden is a beacon of hope, addressing these challenges head-on by equipping communities with the skills and knowledge to overcome food insecurities. But that’s not all! Our program also gives our learners the tools to build a business with their produce. Learning to grow food becomes a gateway to a world of possibilities!
Cultivating Knowledge, Empowering Communities
LIFE in the Garden’s program is a unique blend of hands-on agricultural training, innovative technology, spiritual mentoring, and inspiring educational content. We’ve designed our curriculum to not only teach sustainable farming practices but also to foster a sense of global community and understanding. Here’s a glimpse into our diverse and dynamic program:
“I am now able to grow food for myself and my family. I am also able to teach my community how they can grow food for themselves.”
Isaac

Nourishing Bodies, Enriching Minds Through Stories
Our video based story begins in Montana on a Native American Indian reservation. Meet “Soil Life,” a wise animated character who teaches us about taking care of the soil and using regenerative farming practices. Join two young Native Americans as they discover the secrets of the land.
But wait, our adventure doesn’t stop there! Get ready for an incredible trip to Africa, where we uncover the process of successful corn and bean cultivation. Explore vibrant fields and hear inspiring stories from dedicated farmers like Isaac and Makesure, who are making a huge difference in their communities through gardening.
Our next stop is Asia! We dive into the fascinating world of rice growing, discovering the importance of this staple crop for both sustenance and cultural identity.
But that’s not all – our journey continues to the diverse landscapes of South America where we immerse in the wonders of vegetable cultivation, celebrating the abundance of nature and the nourishing power of local produce.

Here are a few stories of people we have helped
Gardens bloom as stories blossom
Isaac’s impact is profound and his story embodies the core principles of LIFE in the Garden – the transformative power of self-sufficiency, community growth, and the cultivation of change. He has trained over 100 individuals within Imvepi Refugee camp, resulting in the establishment of 100 gardens. In an inspiring display of paying it forward, Isaac extended his reach to Bidi Bidi Refugee Camp in March and November of 2023, where he imparted his knowledge to 80 more families. Thanks to Isaac’s dedication and the ripple effect of his teachings, over 1,000 refugees will no longer be dependent on others for their daily sustenance.
“We’re meeting School Children ‘s needs by providing fresh vegetables in Government rural unprivileged primary school.” – Makesure
When the government’s school lunch program in Zimbabwe failed, Makesure Muchenjie, who had been trained by Foundations for Farming, came up with a plan to stop the hunger. He is going to the schools and teaching the children to put in a garden and grow their own food. The children now have food to eat when they come to school as well as having enough food to take home to their communities. Makesure is using our training with the LightStream devices.
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, your God reigns!”
Isaiah 52:7
